Customs grilling jewellery owner in gold smuggling case

KOCHI: The customs is grilling a jewellery owner in the gold smuggling case. Shamsudeen, a relative of Samju arrested in the case earlier, is being questioned by the customs. Meantime, the court will pronounce the verdict in the bail plea of Swapna Suresh.

There was a statement that the gold bought by Samju was given to Shamsudeen. Based on it, the investigating team summoned Shamsudeen for interrogation. However, the high court had dismissed his anticipatory bail plea.

The customs had earlier issued summons to him. He appeared before the customs after the high court rejected his anticipatory bail plea. He will be subjected for a detailed interrogation. Other procedures will be taken after that.

The special court for economic offences will pronounce the verdict in the bail plea of Swapna Suresh. Meantime, the customs had opposed her bail plea stating she has high connections.
