Three more Zika virus cases confirmed in Kerala, two-year-old infected with virus

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three more in the state have been diagnosed with Zika virus, said Health Minister Veena George. The virus was confirmed in a sample sent to the lab in Coimbatore from a private hospital in the capital city. Of these, two were patients who sought treatment in a hospital and another a female hospital staff. A 46-year-old man, one year and 10-month-old baby and a 29-year-old hospital employee were diagnosed with the virus. With this, 18 people in the state have been diagnosed with the Zika virus, he said.

Meantime, 26 of the 27 samples sent in the second phase turned negative. In the third phase, eight samples were sent and of three were confirmed to be positive.
