THRISSUR: Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who was acquitted in the nun rape case by the court, received a grand reception at his hometown. A large number of people, including believers and relatives, flocked to Mattom in Thrissur to receive Franco. They received him by putting garlands around his neck.

Upon reaching the Mattam church, bishop Franco went to the graves of his dear ones and offered prayers. He then attended a prayer service at the church. 105 barrel crackers were burst in front of the church as part of the celebrations. 105 crackers were burst to symbolize the 105-day-long trial.

Franco returned after visiting his home and talking to his relatives. He also went to the Chalakudy church to visit his sister's grave. The nun had alleged that Franco had sexually abused her 13 times from 2014 to 2016, at Kuravilangad Convent.
