SHIMLA: Thirteen people were killed and one person was injured after a massive landslide crushed a taxi in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul-Spiti district, police said. Search and rescue operations are currently underway.
The accident occurred on the Udaipur-Pangi road when a portion of a mountain broke off, burying a Tata Sumo under heavy soil and massive boulders. According to police, 15 people were reportedly inside the vehicle at the time of the disaster. The injured person was rescued and shifted to a hospital.
Authorities stated that the vehicle was travelling from Kullu to Pangi. The road had been closed for a day due to a previous landslide and was reopened recently. The group had been stranded during the closure and resumed their journey after the route was cleared and reopened.
