Popular travel vlogger killed in road accident near Raipur; probe ongoing

RAIPUR: A biker and popular travel vlogger died tragically in a road accident while visiting Chhattisgarh from Mumbai. 24-year-old Riddhi Thakkar, a native of Mumbai, died in the wee hours of August 12 after the bike she was riding was hit by a heavy vehicle. The accident took place on National Highway 30, near Markatola Ghat.

Riddhi was part of a 23-member biker gang on an adventure ride from Mumbai to Bastar and then Raipur.

As per police, the gang were travelling near Markatola Ghat when the road thinned out. Most of the riders went ahead while Riddhi and a few others trailed behind. At this point, a heavy vehicle came from the rear and hit the motorcycle she was riding.

Riddhi was thrown to the road in the impact of the collision and suffered serious leg injuries. She was rushed to hospital by others, but Riddhi soon succumbed to her injuries. The police meanwhile registered a case of unnatural death and are questioning the biker gang.

The heavy vehicle, purported to have collided with Riddhi’s bike, is yet to be traced. Police are examining the CCTV visuals while the biker gang, shaken by the whole episode, called off the trip.
