CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Transport Minister Vijay Tamilan Parthiban said that the state government will purchase only AC buses for public transport in the future. He said Chief Minister Vijay wants people in Tamil Nadu to travel comfortably in AC buses. The minister was speaking at a government event held in Salem.
The minister said that Chief Minister Vijay has instructed that bus services should be available in all interior areas of Tamil Nadu. He added that buses should have all necessary facilities for every citizen to travel comfortably.
According to the minister, Vijay expressed the desire to have AC facilities in all buses after travelling on a government bus recently. He said the aim is to improve the travel experience for people across the state.
Last week, Chief Minister Vijay flagged off 300 new buses in Tamil Nadu. The state government purchased the buses at a cost of Rs 127.21 crore. The fleet includes 164 diesel buses and 130 CNG buses. After the inauguration, Vijay travelled on one of the buses. Videos of him interacting with bus staff and passengers were widely shared on social media.
