Woman head constable killed while trying to stop clash between auto drivers in Tamil Nadu

RAMANATHAPURAM: A woman head constable was killed while trying to stop a clash between two auto-rickshaw drivers at a government hospital in Tamil Nadu. The deceased has been identified as Kannaki (35), who was on duty at the Paramakudi Government Hospital. Kannaki was a head constable attached to the Parthibanur police station in Ramanathapuram district.

The incident occurred at the Paramakudi Government Taluk Hospital on Monday night. An argument between two auto-rickshaw drivers on the hospital premises escalated into a physical fight. Upon receiving information, Kannaki reached the spot and tried to intervene.

During the clash, a man identified as Karuppu Raja allegedly pushed Kannaki forcefully. She lost her balance and fell to the ground, suffering serious head injuries. She was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. Ramanathapuram District Superintendent of Police Sandeep visited the hospital and began an investigation into the incident.

Police are examining CCTV footage from the hospital as part of the investigation. Karuppu Raja, who allegedly pushed Kannaki, has been taken into custody. Police are also investigating what led to the clash and the role of others involved in the incident.
