Pedestrian attacked brutally and thrown into canal in Aluva, search for attackers

ALUVA: A two-member gang attacked a 28-year-old pedestrian in Aluva, knocking him down with stones, assaulting him, and throwing him into a canal. The incident happened around 3:30 am on Sunday near the railway station. Jophin Jiju of Kodanad sustained injuries in the attack. He suffered fractures to his ribs and right arm.

Jophin was attacked when he was on his way to attend a wedding. Two unidentified men attacked him when he was walking to the railway station from the metro station with the help of Google Map.

The attackers initially hit Jophin on the head with a stone, causing him to fall. When he tried to flee, they chased him, snatched his chain and took the money he had with him. It is suspected that the attack was carried out with the intention of stealing his money and gold. The assailants then dragged him through the mud of the adjacent ditch.

In the brutal assault, Jophin suffered fractures to his three ribs and his right arm. He ran towards the police station seeking help. The police took him to the hospital. As his condition was found to be serious, he was later shifted to the ICU of Kolenchery Medical Mission Hospital. The doctors have informed that he may require an emergency surgery.

Jophin has informed police that he will be able to identify the attackers. The Aluva Police have recorded his statement and launched an investigation to trace the accused.
