KOZHIKODE: It is doubtful that a nine-year-old girl, a native of Kadalur, died while undergoing treatment after contracting Kawasaki disease, primarily seen in children. Aisha Helna, daughter of Jabnash and Muhsina of Kadalur, died while undergoing treatment at the medical college on Saturday. She was a fourth-standard student of Kodikal Mappila Upper Primary (M.M.U.P.) School. The burial ceremony was conducted at Pulivalappu masjid kabaristan.

Kawasaki is a rare illness causing inflamed blood vessels. The health officials asked people not to panic since it is not a communicable disease. It was last Tuesday that Aisha was admitted to the hospital following a high fever. Her tongue turned extreme red, which made one doctor fear the disease was Kawasaki, and he instructed the parents to immediately move her to the medical college hospital.

Even at medical college, Aisha’s temperature remained high at 104 degrees while her heartbeat suddenly showed a dip. Despite attempts, her life could not be saved. This disease is rare, and health officials have warned parents to take note of fever in children that lasts for more than five days.
