Rs 30 crore missed, but luck stays with Bhagavathi; three second prizes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Bhagavathi Lottery Agency may have missed out on the Rs 30-crore first prize in this year’s Thiruvonam Bumper, but the agency still had reason to celebrate. Three tickets sold by the agency won the second prize, while another ticket won the third prize. Agency employees said they were happy that tickets sold through them had won prizes and were trying to contact the lucky winners. In 2022, Anoop, who won the Rs 25-crore Onam Bumper first prize, had also purchased his winning ticket from the same Bhagavathi agency.

While the employees were disappointed that the agency did not sell the first-prize ticket this time, they were happy about the three second prizes and one third prize. Soon after the results were announced, the agency distributed sweets and organised celebrations outside its office.

The Rs 30-crore first prize in this year’s Thiruvonam Bumper went to ticket number TL 360615, sold in Taliparamba, Kannur. P.V. Valsaraj of the Thamburan Lottery Agency in Taliparamba sold the ticket. The bumper winner purchased it from a shop at the Taliparamba bus stand. The ticket had been bought from the Thamburan Agency by Sujith, a retail lottery seller. The Muthu Agency in Chakkarakkal is the wholesale agent. A ticket sold through the Muthu Agency had earlier won the first prize in the Christmas Bumper lottery as well.
