KOZHIKODE: Six Excise officials, who were trapped inside a lift at the Kunnamangalam Mini Civil Station, were safely evacuated by the fire and rescue team. The incident happened at around 2.30 pm on Friday. The lift stopped working when it reached the ground floor of the four-storey building. The officials were trapped inside the lift for some time.

Due to poor air circulation inside the lift, one of the officials felt unwell, causing concern. Following this, other employees at the Civil Station immediately informed the Vellimadukunnu Fire Force unit. The fire and rescue team reached the spot and used an advanced hydraulic spreader tool to force open the lift door. The officials were then brought out safely.

The rescue operation was led by Senior Fire and Rescue Officer T. Babu. Officers Jithesh, Aneesh, Jithin Babu, Subin, Ashraf, and Home Guard Sathyan also took part in the rescue mission. The timely action by the fire and rescue team helped prevent a major accident.
