THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As heavy rains are lashing Maharashtra and Gujarat, transportation on the western railway route has been disrupted. Major services to Kerala were diverted as waterlogging formed on the railway tracks in Palghar and Vasai areas of Mumbai and Navsari in Gujarat.

The Indore-Kochuveli Superfast Express was diverted from Surat to Panvel. The Hazrat Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram Rajdhani Express was also diverted. The Rajdhani Express is presently running more than 12 hours late. Railway officials have announced that the Ganganagar-Kochuveli Express will also be diverted from Surat.

Many passengers who were supposed to reach Kerala are stuck at stations due to the delay and rerouting of major trains including Rajdhani. The IMD has warned that heavy rains will continue in the area for the next 24 hours. Therefore, the authorities have advised passengers to come to the stations only after checking the official information from the railways.
