KOTTAYAM: Johnny and his children, Somit and Jomit, were shattered into silence seeing the mortal remains of their beloved Regina and Josephine. The mother-son duo were killed in the landslides in Poonjar the other day that buried their house. The head of the family, Johnny, was at a neighbouring house at the time of the incident, while daughters Jomit and Somit were in Ernakulam. Relatives had a tough time consoling Johnny and his two daughters.
The mortal remains of Regina and Josephine were kept at Payyanithottam Holy Spirit Public School for public viewing. Hundreds poured in to pay their last respects. All the teachers and staff of the school where Regina worked were in disbelief at the whole incident and couldn’t help but shed tears seeing the mortal remains.
Minister Mons Joseph laid a wreath on behalf of the government. Pala RDO Shahina Ramakrishnan and Meenachil Tehsildar Sajimon Mathew paid their last respects for the district administration. The funeral of the two was held at the St. Alphonsa Church Cemetery in Payyanithottam. Anto Antony MP, MJ. Sebastian MLA, District Panchayat President Joshi Philip, Vice President Bindu Sebastian, District Panchayat Member R. Sreekala, Poonjar Thekkekkara Panchayat President Minerva Mohan, and Poonjar Panchayat President P. Subramanian attended the funeral ceremony.
