Rain to intensify in Kerala; yellow alert issued in eight districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Kerala is likely to receive rainfall for the next five days, with several districts expected to experience heavy showers. A yellow alert has been issued in several districts, and people have been advised to remain cautious.

A yellow alert has been declared today in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. Isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted in these areas. The IMD defines heavy rainfall as rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

The IMD has also stated that isolated parts of Kerala are likely to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms today and tomorrow (June 23, 2026). Authorities have advised people to stay alert and take necessary precautions during the rainy period.
