THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has revised its rain warnings for Kerala as heavy rainfall continues across the state. Orange Alerts have now been issued for more districts. An Orange Alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Monday (August 3).
The IMD has forecast very heavy rainfall at isolated places in these districts. According to the weather department, very heavy rainfall refers to 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain within 24 hours. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also likely.
The IMD has also issued Yellow Alerts for the following districts:
03/08/2026: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur and Palakkad
04/08/2026: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod
06/08/2026: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod
07/08/2026: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod
A Yellow Alert indicates the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places, with 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain expected within 24 hours.
The IMD and authorities have urged people to remain vigilant as heavy rain continues across the state.
