Saved owners by battling cobra, emerged victorious; Tragic end for pet dog Leo in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A pet dog died a valiant death after battling a cobra that tried to enter a house in Thiruvananthapuram. Arun and Nikhitha's pet Leo, of ‘Adwaitham’ house in Vayalikkada, died in the incident that took place on Thursday afternoon.

The cobra was hiding inside a bag kept near the house. The dog caught the odd scent and found the snake hiding inside the bag. The German shepherd battled with the venomous reptile for half an hour. In the end, the snake was found lifeless, and Leo emerged victorious.

Leo went to play in the backyard soon after the fight. However, very soon, the pet dog showed signs of tiredness and collapsed to the floor. The owners rushed him to the veterinary hospital in PMG, and it was found that the dog had been bitten by a snake. The examination revealed that the dog was bitten on the tongue during the encounter. Antivenom was injected three times, but it was not enough to save Leo’s life. Leo was later buried near the kennel at the house.
