MALAPPURAM: The details of the report submitted by Kondotty ASP to Malappuram SP regarding the disappearance of gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakhs kept at Karipur police station have been revealed. Eight sovereign gold recovered at several instances, including at Karipur airport, went missing from the police station.

The ASP's report states that the gold was stolen by the former SHO. The investigation also found that the officer made an attempt to return the gold when the incident came to light.

The gold was lost around 2025 from the station. The missing items included a gold necklace and bracelet that locals had handed over to the station before 2018, as well as two necklaces, two earrings, and a ring that were found in October 2024. Some of these were seized by officials from Karipur Airport.
