THRISSUR: More information emerged in the incident where a woman was hit by a KSRTC bus that lost control in Puthukkad. The bus hit the woman when she was walking towards her scooter after seeing her daughter off on a bus. The accident happened Monday morning at around 7 am. The woman dead has been identified as Sindhu (48), wife of Royson of Porantharappilly House at Kanjur in Puthukkad.
The accident happened in Puthukkad Centre. The Priyadarshini bus proceeding towards Chalakudy met with the accident. The driver of the bus collapsed when the vehicle was taken from the Puthukkad depot leading to the accident. Driver Babu has been admitted to Mulangunnathukavu Medical College Hospital.
The bus losing control hit Sindhu, who was walking on the road and then crashed into a roadside shop. The rear wheels of the bus ran over Sindhu as she fell onto the road. Seeing the bus, the people standing in front of the tea shop ran from there. Some sustained injuries while running. The bus came to a halt after crashing into the concrete wall of a tea shop. Sindhu and the driver, Babu, were rushed to the hospital immediately, but she succumbed to her injuries.
Sindhu was returning after seeing her daughter Ann Maria, working in Rajagiri Hospital, off on a bus. After parking the scooter on the side of the road due to heavy rain, Sindhu went to the bus stop to get back the raincoat her daughter was wearing. On normal days, Sindhu usually reaches the road near the national highway. There was only one passenger in the bus at the time of the accident.
