THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar did not invite the Public Service Commission chairman or members to the tea reception on the occasion of Independence Day. It is reported that the chairman and members were not invited in the context of the PSC recruitment scam controversy. Every year, the Governor organises a tea reception at the Lok Bhavan on the occasion of Independence Day. In previous years, the Governor had invited the PSC chairman and members to the function.

It is indicated that the Governor is unhappy with the recruitment irregularities in the PSC. It is presumed to be the reason for not inviting Chairman M R Baiju and other PSC members. The Governor's action comes amidst an ongoing Crime Branch investigation into the irregularities in the PSC recruitment.
