Palakkad still first, Thiruvananthapuram gets third spot; Historic milestone in Thiruvonam bumper sales

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The draw for this year's Onam Bumper lottery will take place today at 1:30 PM at Gorky Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram. Minister K. Muraleedharan will inaugurate the draw and also release the Pooja Bumper ticket. This time, a historic milestone was achieved as all 90 lakh printed tickets sold out—a first in the history of state lottery sales.

This record comes as the Thiruvonam Bumper prize money was raised to Rs 30 crore. Palakkad district recorded the highest sales (2,095,300 tickets), followed by Thrissur (1,062,000) in second place and Thiruvananthapuram (864,100) in third.

The second prize is Rs one crore each, while the third, fourth, and fifth prizes are Rs 25 lakh, Rs 5 lakh, and Rs 2 lakh, respectively. Additionally, prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 2,000, Rs 1,000, and Rs 500 are also offered.

For the Rs 30 crore winner, the most important step is to notify the Lottery Department as soon as possible. Once the necessary procedures are completed and the lottery ticket is submitted along with the required documents, the prize money will be credited to the bank account within approximately 15 to 20 days.
