Three held with MDMA during college Onam celebrations

MALAPPURAM: MDMA has been seized during Onam celebrations organised in the college at Kondotty in Malappuram. One gram of MDMA was seized. The MDMA was found in the students’ car.

The students stopped the car and ran on seeing the excise vehicle. The excise department has started an investigation against three known people to be the accused.
Meantime, the arrests in Operation Toofan, the drug hunt of the Kerala Police, have crossed 10,000. The total arrests have touched 10,015 in 9280 cases. So far, 8289.409 grams of MDMA, 1004.784 kilograms of ganja and 2382 ganja plants have been seized.

The highest number of cases is in Kozhikode City. A total of 929 cases has been registered here. Malappuram records highest number of arrests, 999 have been arrested. 875 cases have been registered here. There are more than 700 cases in Kochi City and Palakkad. 139 people were arrested in 137 cases in Kannur Rural.
