Handcuffed notorious criminal escapes from sub jail; police groping in the dark

MALAPPURAM: An accused escaped with handcuffs from the Perinthalmanna sub-jail. Ameer of Maruthonkara in Kuttiyadi, an accused in a drug case, escaped from the hands of the police at around 8 pm last night. He was arrested for smuggling MDMA from Kondotty.

The accused escaped when he was taken to the jail for remand proceedings after being produced before the Perinthalmanna Magistrate at night. The police were not able to catch him, who had fled into the darkness. Police and locals searched the area until this morning, but were unable to catch him. The police said that he is an accused in several criminal cases in addition to drug cases.
