KOCHI: Veena Vijayan, the daughter of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, stated that attempts are being made to frame her just because she is the Chief Minister's daughter. Veena made this claim in the affidavit submitted in response to the plea filed in the High Court seeking a CBI probe into the monthly pay-off case. She stated that she is an educated woman and that the public interest litigation was deliberately filed to portray her in bad light.
It was journalist MR Ajayan who approached the High Court seeking a CBI probe into the case. Earlier, the Chief Minister had also submitted an affidavit stating that the petition appeared to be aimed at targetting both him and his daughter. Veena's response affidavit comes after this. In the affidavit, Veena requested that the plea seeking a CBI probe should be dismissed.
Veena stated that the allegations in the petition are baseless and immature. She added that since an SFIO probe is already underway, there is no need for an investigation by other central agencies. The affidavit also stated that her father had no involvement in the operations of Exalogic and that he became Chief Minister two years after the company was established. It further noted that the penalty imposed by the Registrar of Companies (RoC) was not due to the alleged misuse of the AKG Centre's address.
