THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three opposition MLAs have been suspended for assaulting the chief marshal while staging protests in assembly over the gold plating row in Sabarimala. The three suspended are Angamaly MLA Roji M John, Kovalam MLA M Vincent and Chalakudy MLA Saneesh Kumar Joseph. The Speaker approved the resolution presented by Parliamentary Affairs Minister M B Rajesh over it.
Minister Rajesh told the Assembly that opposition protests crossed the limits and the chief marshal undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital after sustaining injuries in the attack, need a surgery. The resolution pointed that there are continuous attacks towards the watch and ward staff by opposition MLAs and their actions and responses are not in accordance with the proceedings of the assembly.
Unruly scenes are being witnessed in the assembly for the last four days over the gold-plated issue. The house was adjourned today due to opposition's uproar. The assembly witnessed some dramatic scenes today. Opposition leader V D Satheesan said protests will continue until devaswom minister resigns on the Sabarimala issue. When the opposition members stormed to the well of the house, the watch and ward also arrived. When opposition members tried to approach the dais, Shamseer asked the watch and ward staff to seize their banners. Meanwhile, the ruling party members tried to enter the well of the house, but the Speaker prevented them.
