Assistant cameraman held by Excise for drug peddling

KOTTAYAM: Suhail (28), an assistant cameraman in the film industry, was nabbed for ganja peddling. Excise said he is a key link in the Mundakkayam-based drug mafia. 220 grams of ganja kept in his house in packets of 50 grams each were recovered. These packs were sold for 2000 per pc. He has worked as an assistant cameraman in the films Neelavelicham, Chathuram and Higuita. 5 packages of ganja were found hidden under the bed in the bedroom. An electronic weighing machine was also found. A case has also been registered against Aromal, the second accused, who bought ganja for Rs 5000. The family members tried to stop the excise officials who came to the house. Kottayam Excise Special Squad Circle Inspector Rajesh John led the raid.
