Cop dismissed from service for relationship with married woman

MUMBAI: A policeman has been dismissed from service for having an illicit relationship with a married woman. Somnath Baburao Angule, a constable of the local armed division of Tardeo in central Mumbai, was dismissed. Strict action was taken for violating service rules and defaming the image of the force.

Angule, who was posted at JJ police station in 2019, had an affair with the married woman and started living with her. A child was born in this relationship. Angule promised to name the child after him and marry her. He also signed an agreement with the woman saying he would be in a live-in-relationship with her.

However, the constable changed his word. The woman repeatedly asked him to do all the things he said, but he refused. With this, the woman approached his senior police officers. A departmental inquiry was then ordered. Angule was suspended as soon as the preliminary inquiry report was received. After a few months, he was reinstated. However, after the final report found him guilty, he was dismissed from service.
