NEW DELHI: Haryana would give many Psephologists a run for their money as all exit poll predictions doomed after BJP crossed the majority mark with an unexpected plot twist that has left the AICC headquarters in gloom.

After leading in the initial four hours, analysts claimed it to be a landslide while Congress workers hit the streets with celebrations. However, when the clock struck 10.30 am, many workers were hastily advised by leadership to stop celebrations. A bombshell plot twist followed that could rival even a thriller film's script.

As per the latest results, the BJP has crossed the absolute majority in 48 seats and the Congress in 36 seats. JJP, which was supposed to be decisive in the state, is still at zero. Independent candidates are leading in all 6 seats.

Farmers protests, wrestling stars’ dilemma and anti-incumbency factors forced analysts to favour a Congress landslide in the state with many predicting BJP to hit rock bottom. Early trends also seconded the prediction with things changed pretty fast. The results now show that Congress has failed to capitalize on the anti-incumbency sentiment in the state. Given the current situation in Haryana, JP Nadda has called a meeting of general secretaries.

At the same time, Congress is set to form a government in alliance with the National Conference in Kashmir Valley. However, the drubbing Congress received in Haryana would take away the sheen of Kashmir victory. Meanwhile, it is reported that PM Modi will arrive at BJP headquarters at 7 pm on Tuesday to address the party workers.
