Pathanamthitta sexual abuse case: Confidential statement of girl recorded; 44 persons arrested so far

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Adoor First Class Magistrate has recorded the confidential statement of the girl in the Pathanamthitta sexual abuse case. One more accused was arrested in the case today. The arrest was made in a case registered at the Pathanamthitta Town Police Station. With this, the total number of arrested accused has risen to 44. The police stated that there are a total of 58 accused in the case.

DIG Ajeetha Beegum, who is in charge of the case, stated that 15 more individuals need to be taken into custody. Two of these accused are abroad, and a Red Corner Notice will be issued for them. The DIG assured that there will be no compromise in the investigation.

The youth arrested today was introduced to the girl through Deepu, an individual previously arrested in the case. Subsequently, this accused also sexually abused the girl. Over 30 FIRs related to the sexual abuse case have been registered in various police stations. These cases are registered at Pathanamthitta Town, Konni, Ranni, Malayalapuzha, and Pandalam stations. One case taken up by the Pathanamthitta Police has been handed over to the Thiruvananthapuram Kallambalam Police for further investigation.
