THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a famous scene from the Malayalam movie ‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint’ where the character ‘Pauli’ bamboozles people including his teacher by asking them to do a unique exercise; write six with a hand while rotating the foot to the right simultaneously. Other characters in the movie couldn’t do this difficult act. However, P.K. Kumar aka Inspire Kumar, a native of Thiruvananthapuram did this effortlessly.
Kumar’s unique acts got him into the Incredible Book of Records. He holds the book record for rotating both hands simultaneously in the opposite direction for the most number of the times in one minute. His latest milestone is on a Penny-Farthing, one of the first bicycles in history with a big front tyre and small back tyre. Kumar has surpassed the record set by a French man in 1876 by cycling 21.3 kilometers in one hour. The award panel has praised Kumar for cycling at such speeds on Kerala roads. Kumar said that the French cycle company sent him a Penny Farthing for free.
P.K. Kumar, who is a Psychotherapist and personality development trainer, added the word Inspire to his name as he presents his programs under the name Inspire. Record books are not a new thing for Kumar and his family.
In 2018, Kumar rotated his hand 190 times and legs 104 times in opposite directions in one minute. This got him into the Incredible Book of Records. By doing this, he surpassed the record of a Gujarat native. Kumar’s eldest daughter Karthika rotated her hands 89 times in one minute and became the youngest person in this category to achieve this. His youngest daughter Devika holds the records for the youngest Kathakali artist. Kumar’s wife Vijayalakshmi is also a part of this unique team.
