NEW DELHI: Bar Council of India Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra has apologised to students of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) in Hyderabad over the decision to bar them from enrolling as advocates.

Mishra had ordered a ban on the enrolment of NALSAR’s graduating students after they protested against Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. Following the controversy, the Bar Council withdrew the order within hours.

Mishra apologised after several people, including the Chief Justice, criticised the Bar Council’s action. He said he sincerely regretted and apologised if his words or letter had hurt the feelings of students in any way in connection with the controversy. However, his apology did not directly mention any university or refer to any specific issue.
