NEW DELHI: BJP MP from Bihar Sanjay Jaiswal has been appointed chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) examining the FCRA Amendment Bill. The 31-member panel includes three MPs from Kerala- Congress's Anto Antony, Muslim League's E.T. Mohammed Basheer and BJP's C. Sadanandan Master.

The Bill was referred to the JPC on August 12. Opposition parties had strongly opposed the move, demanding that the Bill be withdrawn.

The committee is required to submit its report in the Lok Sabha during the first week of the winter session.

The amendment Bill was introduced by the Central government to regulate individuals and organisations receiving foreign contributions.
