Seven killed, several injured in stampede at temple in Bihar

LAKHISARAI: Seven people were killed and several others have been injured in a stampede that broke out at the Ashok Dham Temple in Bihar's Lakhisarai on Monday morning. The condition of many injured are stated to be serious. A heavy rush was witnessed in the temple Monday morning between 6.30 and 6.45. Reports also say that people suffered electric shock after an electric pole collapsed. A heavy rush was witnessed today as it was the beginning of the month of Shravan.

The injured has been shifted to the hospital. Divisional Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shivam Kumar said the exact cause of the accident can only be known after a detailed investigation. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary described the accident as extremely tragic. He also directed the authorities to ensure proper and prompt treatment for the injured.
