KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has rejected the bail plea of Congress councillor Prashobh C Vatsan, accused of sexually assaulting a dalit woman after allegedly promising her a job. The police have arrested him in the case.
Prashobh, who had been absconding for two months, had filed an anticipatory bail plea, but the high court had rejected it. The court then directed him to surrender immediately. With this, he reached Palakkad and surrendered to the police. The high court has now rejected the bail plea filed later.
The complaint says that he abused her after promising her a job and threatened her by citing his connections with top Congress leaders. The girl had filed a complaint with the Palakkad Town South police and directly with the chief minister. The case has been registered under serious sections including rape and the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
