KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has granted conditional bail to the nine accused in the case of attacking ED officials investigating the monthly payoff case. The accused have been in remand for 66 days in the case. The court granted bail to the accused in a situation where the investigation reached the final stages. Along with this, the court also pointed that the charge of attempt to murder does not prima facie stand against the accused. With this, the prosecution has suffered a major setback.

The CPM workers had expected to secure bail within two weeks in the case, but their bail pleas were rejected twice by the sessions court. A team of noted lawyers including former Kerala Director General of Prosecution T A Shaji, A G Gopalakrishnan Kurup and senior criminal advocates Vijayabhanu and S Rajeev appeared for the accused.
