KSRTC driver suspended for watching reels while driving bus

KOLLAM: A KSRTC driver has been suspended for watching reels on his mobile phone while driving a bus. The action was taken following a complaint from a passenger. The Motor Vehicles Department suspended Abhijith, a driver attached to the Kottarakkara depot. His driving licence has also been suspended for two months.

The action was taken after recording the driver's statement on Sunday. In addition to the suspension, the Motor Vehicles Department’s Enforcement Wing has directed him to attend a road safety awareness class. The incident that led to the action took place on the KSRTC bus operating on the Kottarakkara-Kollam route at around 6 AM on the 18th of this month. The visuals recorded by a passenger on a mobile phone were later released through the media.
