NEW DELHI: No one expected a new political outfit themed on an insect to form and surpass a million followers in the blink of an eye when the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court compared unemployed Indian youths to cockroaches. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the satirical political outfit, is now a sensation. With its followers crossing 1.5 crore, CJP surpassed BJP and the Congress to become the most followed political outfit on Instagram. The CJP story is a six-day wonder.

Chief Justice Surya Kant made the contentious remark on the 15th. The next day, Delhi-based Abhijit Dipke, a former Aam Aadmi Party activist, created pages on Instagram and X. The CJP’s X account was banned on Thursday, but it was reopened shortly after. The number of followers on X crossed two lakhs.

CJP's slogan is a secular, socialist, democratic and lazy party. The self-deprecating party is being formed by lazy youngsters with chronic online addiction (cockroaches). The party even made a cheeky remark that unemployed and lazy youngsters are the most deserving of all for getting membership. Trinamool MPs Mahua Moitra and Kirti Azad supported the movement.

CJP (Manifesto)

  • Retired Chief Justices will not be given Rajya Sabha seats

  • If committed, vote fraud, the Chief Election Commissioner will be arrested under UAPA

  • 50% reservation for women in Parliament without increasing the seat count

  • Licenses of media houses with Ambani and Adani will be cancelled

  • Bank accounts of Anchors supporting Modi will be investigated

  • Turncoat politicians will be banned from contesting for 20 years

The Chief Justice's controversial remarks came while considering petitions related to the determination of senior advocate status in the Delhi High Court. "There are thousands of fake lawyers in Delhi. The verification of their law degrees will have to be handed over to the CBI. There is a group of cockroaches who are unemployed and rely mostly on social media." After a huge outcry, the Chief Justice responded that his words were distorted.

30-year-old Abhijit Dipke hails from Pune. After graduating in journalism, he did his PG in Public Relations from Boston University and is a political communication strategist. He was the social media team leader of Aam Aadmi Party for five years.
