Befriended Class 10 student through Instagram; girl was sexually assaulted by five individuals at different locations and different times

KOZHIKODE: More details have come out regarding the incident where a girl studying in Class 10 was sexually abused by five individuals in Nadapuram. According to the police, the accused, who befriended the girl through Instagram, sexually abused her at different places and times. Police have arrested Eramala native Adithyan (19), Vallyadu native Adithyan (19), Kottappally native Sayooj (19), Ayanchery native Sayooj (20) and Ayanchery native Anunand (18) in connection with the case.

Police said the girl testified that the assaults happened in several stages at different locations, and therefore, five separate FIRs have been registered.

The incident came to light after the girl revealed the abuse during a counselling session at school. The counsellor informed the headmaster, who then reported it to the Vadakara police. Since the incidents took place within the Nadapuram police station limits, the case was later transferred there. The accused have been booked under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections. The arrests were made under the supervision of Police Inspector T.M. Nidheesh.
