GURUGRAM: Police have arrested the driver of a car that hit a woman biker in Gurugram. The accused, identified as Kalyan Bainsla, was arrested from Dausa in Rajasthan. Another accused in the case, Lavnish Gurjar, has also been arrested. Based on CCTV footage, Gurugram Police have registered a case of attempted murder against Bainsla.
A video showing a car deliberately hitting a woman riding a motorcycle had gone viral on social media the other day. The woman, identified as Sia, runs the Instagram page ‘Rebelwheels Sia’. Sia said the incident occurred on Sunday while she was riding with a group of bikers on Golf Course Road in Gurugram. According to Sia, a group of young men in a car had been following them from the beginning of the ride and repeatedly tried to disrupt their journey. She also alleged that those in the car were under the influence of alcohol.
The incident was clearly captured on a camera mounted on Sia’s motorcycle. The footage shows Sia asking those in the car to maintain a safe distance, following which they allegedly became angry with her. The car is then seen approaching Sia’s motorcycle from behind at high speed before allegedly swerving towards her and hitting the bike. The impact threw Sia onto the road, while her motorcycle skidded several metres.
Sia alleged that a friend who was riding with her chased the car after the incident and managed to stop the driver. However, she said the driver denied responsibility and later fled the spot. Sia had shared details of the vehicle, including its registration number, and urged the police to take action. The arrests followed the police investigation into the incident.
