CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government introduced novel reforms prohibiting passengers from playing songs loudly on state transport buses. Passengers are advised to use headphones to watch videos or listen to songs. If they flout the rule, the passenger will be kicked out of the vehicle. The circular belongs to the transport department.

The action came after complaints from passengers regarding others playing songs loudly on the bus, annoying others. Such restrictions were imposed in Chennai Metro after the Vijay government came to power. Violations will attract a fine of Rs 2,500.

Stickers will also be placed inside the bus to make passengers aware of the new rule. Drivers, conductors and other staff have been taught about the new guidelines.
