POCSO accused escapes from Nedumangad court after remand order; police launch search

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man accused in a POCSO case has escaped from a court in Thiruvananthapuram. The incident occurred at the Nedumangad POCSO Court on Friday afternoon. The accused, identified as Nedumangad native Nithin Raj, allegedly fled after deceiving the police. He is an accused in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor girl.

According to the police, the case was registered in 2022. Nithin Raj is accused of sexually assaulting the girl after promising to marry her. The accused appeared before the court along with his lawyer, expecting to get bail. However, the court remanded him. Soon after hearing the remand order, he escaped from the court premises. Nedumangad Police have launched a search to trace him. Two other accused in the same POCSO case are currently in jail. Another accused is still absconding.
