Two cops hurt as accused gang attacks police during KAAPA raid

THRISSUR: A police team was attacked when they had come to arrest a KAPPA case accused. The incident happened when trying to arrest Adeep of Guruvayur, an accused in several criminal cases including attempt to murder. Two policemen were injured in the attack. The police reached the Cheeramkulam paddy field after receiving a tip-off that the accused and his gang had gathered. Seeing the police, the gang attacked them.

The injured were Ratheesh and Devanarayanan, civil police officers of Kunnamkulam police station. Ratheesh, who suffered a neck injury, sought treatment at Kunnamkulam Taluk Hospital. Police said the accused, Adeep, had previously faced action under the KAAPA (Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act) and had returned to his hometown after completing the KAAPA period. There are many cases against him, including attempt to murder and drug trafficking. The police have registered a case in the incident and started an investigation.
