
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The proposed strike by 108 ambulance workers in Kerala has been called off after an agreement was reached to provide them a bonus of Rs 4,500.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Labour Minister Bindu Krishnan at the Secretariat on the issue of the bonus. The benefit will be available to all 108 ambulance workers employed on contract under the Kerala Medical Services Corporation and working under the control of EMRI Green Health Services.
Trade union representatives announced their decision to withdraw the proposed strike following the minister's direction. Representatives of workers' organisations and the management signed a memorandum of understanding on the agreement.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Kerala Medical Services Corporation, EMRI Green Health Services and various trade unions, along with Labour Department officials.
