KOCHI: The 'Amma' office bearers who announced their resignations at the general meeting have not officially submitted their letters in this regard, leading to an administrative crisis in the star-studded organisation. The Ad Hoc committee is unable to carry out the AMMA's daily activities because it has not received the former members’ resignation letters.
The 17-member administrative committee, including President Shweta Menon and General Secretary Kukku Parameswaran, announced their resignations at the general meeting held on June 21. Ramesh Pisharody MLA was also the convener of the Ad hoc committee. Even after two weeks, not a single office bearer has submitted a resignation letter to the office. Shweta, who announced her resignation as a member, has not submitted her letter.
Some say that the ad hoc committee cannot take or implement decisions as the governing body under Shweta's leadership technically exists. At the same time, there is an argument that the committee can continue to function since the resignation was announced in the general meeting, which also approved the ad hoc committee. There is no clear definition in the bylaws regarding such a situation.
Although the ad hoc committee met twice, it has not been able to make any decisions or initiate the process for new elections. Ramesh Pisharody said that those who resigned should explain in this regard.
