THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Revenue Minister A P Anil Kumar said that no untoward incidents have been reported in the state in connection with the heavy rains. The minister said everything is under control presently and the government will ensure maximum assistance to the affected people. The minister also informed that the roads damaged due to rains and landslides have been restored and made safe.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that the rains will continue in the state till August 5. Preparations have already begun to deal with all possible situations related to this. Directions have been given to the panchayat level in all districts. Waste in the areas where water has receded will be removed immediately, he said.
Meantime, the minister also responded to the demand of Aranmula MLA Abin Varkey for the revenue department to be efficient in the wake of the flood-like situation that occurred following the heavy rains. Anil Kumar responded that he had contacted Abin Varkey on the phone and that the problem was the delay in reaching the breakfast food at the camp. He clarified that instructions have been given to deliver food to the camps on time and that he will ensure that such problems do not arise again.
