Woman killed as KSRTC bus overturns in Pothundy, rescue operations continue

PALAKKAD: A woman was killed and many sustained injuries after a KSRTC bus overturned at Pothundy in Nenmara. The dead has been identified as Jayanthi of Nelliyampathy. The bus that was heading towards Pothundy from Nelliyampathy met with the accident Monday morning at 10 am. The initial conclusion is that the accident may have been caused as the road was slippery following the heavy rains.

The bus coming from Nelliyampathy towards Nenmara after passing the pass, overturned on the second bend after the Pothundy check post. The bus got stuck in between a tree.

The people injured in the accident have been admitted to Nenmara Hospital. Reports say some of the injured are in a critical condition. Most of the passengers on the bus were from Nelliyampathy. Transportation have come to a standstill following the heavy rain and the accident. Rescue operations by the locals and the fire force are continuing.
