Uralungal society chairman Ramesan Paleri passes away

KOZHIKODE: Ramesan Paleri, chairman of Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society, Asia's largest labor union, passed away. He was 65. He died Tuesday morning at the Kumar Hospital in Coimbatore at 8.30 am. He was undergoing treatment for cancer. His body will be brought to Uralungal cyber park for the people to pay homage and then will be taken to Vadakara.

He was one of the leading activists in the cooperative sector in the state. He has been the chairman of Uralungal Society since 1995. He is the son of Paleri Kanaran, who led the society for 32 years. Paleri Chanthamman, the second president of the society, was his grandfather. He passed away while leading the institution in an excellent manner as the chairman of the society, the pride of the cooperative movement in Kerala, for more than three decades.

He has received many awards including the Robert Owen Award and the M Bhaskaran Memorial Cooperative Excellence Award.
