KOLKATA: Kerala Blasters made a terrific comeback to defeat Kolkata-based Mohammedan Sporting Club in the ISL match on Sunday. After trailing by a goal in the first half, Blasters fought back to emerge victorious in the final half of the game. Kwame Peprah and Jesus Jimenez scored for Blasters ensuring the team’s second win in the tournament.
In the 28th minute, goalkeeper Som Kumar’s foul resulted in a penalty for Mohammedan Sporting Club. Mirjalol Kasimov’s spot kick rolled into the net and gave the home team the much-needed lead. Blasters stepped up their attack in the second half and scored in the 67th minute. Kwame Peprah made no mistake in shaking the net with a fine finish from a cross.
After eight minutes, Jesus Jimenez's stunning finish turned the game in Blaster’s favour. Fans of Blasters were in bated breath witnessing a crucial injury time as Mohammedan Sporting Club barged into the penalty area with several attempts.
Lalremsanga Fanai had a one-on-one chance to end the game in stalemate but Som Kumar’s heroics ensured that Blasters return home with a crucial three points. Kerala Blasters are currently fifth in the points table after completing five matches.
