THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance gave clean chit to ADGP MR Ajith Kumar in many cases including the disproportionate assets case. The Vigilance chief submitted the report to the government on Monday.

Ajith Kumar will have no obstacles towards his ascend to the DGP post if the government accepts the report. Vigilance found no basis in the allegations of illegal wealth acquisition, construction of a luxury house in Kowdiar, sale of a flat in Kuravankonam, and cutting down trees at the Malappuram SP's camp office.

The report says that PV Anvar failed to produce evidence in the gold smuggling case while nothing was found in the vigilance investigation. It was found that Ajith Kumar had taken a loan of Rs. 1.5 crore from SBI for the construction of a luxury house in Kowdiar. The report states that the construction of the house was notified to the government promptly and included in the property information list.

The allegation that a flat in Kuravankonam was purchased and sold for double the price within ten days, was found to be fake. Another allegation was that Malappuram SP Sujith Das, in cohorts with few in customs, conspired to smuggle gold through Karipur airport and Ajith Kumar received a share for keeping a blind eye on the proceedings. However, the probe dismissed the allegations terming Sujit Das's tenure as effective during which the largest cache of gold was seized from Karipur.
