
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's selfie videos to address student protests went on to change the records of the social media platform Instagram. After three consecutive selfie videos, PM Modi’s followers skyrocketed to 105 million (10.5 crore). That is, an additional 4 million people started following him in the last three days. PM Modi is now the most followed world leader on the platform. In the wake of the student protests, Modi had advised Union ministers and leaders to be active on Instagram. After Modi, the leader with the most followers is US President Donald Trump (4.4 crore). PM Modi remains the only political leader to make it to the list of the top 50 most-followed personalities on Instagram.
Meta apologised for removing the video shared by Modi from Facebook the other day. A Meta spokesperson said that the video was taken down due to a technical glitch. The video, which was shared on the 23rd, disappeared the other day. With this, the Centre sought an explanation from Meta.
