Drug-addicted son arrested for alleged murder; 72-year-old man hacked to death in Thrissur

THRISSUR: A 72-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by his son, who is suspected to be addicted to drugs, at Thoyakkavu in Thrissur. The deceased has been identified as Kumaran.

Kumaran was returning home after going fishing at Conolly Canal when his son Prajeesh allegedly attacked him from behind. Kumaran suffered a deep cut to the back of his neck and was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.

Police who reached the spot arrested Prajeesh. The reason behind the murder has not yet been ascertained. Police said further action has been initiated in connection with the incident.
